  • Pilotage is mandatory and is overseen by BIK port authorities, starting from Khor Musa pilot station to the Inner Anchorage by canal pilot, and then by the berthing master to the Jetty. The reverse procedure is followed during unberthing/sailing.

  • Accommodation: The port is a landlocked stream where operations can be conducted year-round, 24 hours a day.

Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels

Messages must be sent via Bandar-e-khomeyni CRS

Vessel should call Bandar-Emam Khomeyni CRS on VHF Ch 16 on arrival at the pilot boarding position to advise ETA at the port

Khor Musa Bar: The outer bar is located at 29°59′ N / 49°04′ E, while the inner bar is at 30°02′ N / 49°01′ E, situated 8 km northwest from the pilot station.

Khor Musa Channel: Once past the bar, the approach channel can accommodate two ocean-going vessels simultaneously, spanning 72 km in length, with a width ranging from 250 to 700 meters, and a depth of 12 meters CD. The channel is clearly marked with buoys and beacons.

Anchorage: There is an outer anchorage at Khor Musa and an inner anchorage at BIK. Permission for anchoring must be obtained from BIK Port Control.

Bandar Imam Khomeini (BIK) Port Special Economic Zone is located in the northwest of the Persian Gulf, at the end of the Khor Musa waterway, with an area of 11,044 hectares. This waterway, with an average depth of 20 meters, a width of 250 meters, and a length of 42 nautical miles, provides a calm and safe passage for various commercial and oil tanker ocean-going vessels from the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, the Oman Sea, and the Indian Ocean to all parts of the world.
