Notice of ETA: vessels should send ETA 72h, 48h, 36h and 24h, and for Darood Terminal 12h in advance, the 36-h message should contain the following information:

  1. Cargo requirements and supplier
  2. Deballasting time
  3. Loading Rate
  4. ETA at anchorage
  5. Arrival and departure draft
  6. Other information as requires by the operators

KHARG is situated in the Arabian Gulf, Persian Gulf in Iran. The official UN/LOCODE of this port is IRKHK. It is also commonly referred to as KHARK ISLAND, KHARG ISLAND, KHARK ISL.

  • Crew Change: Only in case of emergencies
  • Airport: Offers connecting flights to Tehran, Ahwaz, Shiraz, and Bushehr. (Operates 6 days a week)
  • Pilotage is mandatory. Pilot boards the vessel at anchorage.
  • Towage: Requires four to six tugs of 4,500-8,500 HP
  • Working Hours: Operational 24/7.
  • Oil grades available at T-Jetty and Sea Island Berths: Iranian Light, Iranian Heavy, and Forozan Blend crude oils.
  • Arrangements for dispatching a service boat to collect garbage and billing procedures are coordinated.

This island is situated 35 kilometers away from the Genaveh coasts and is considered a part of Bushehr Town geographically. It spans 8 kilometers in length and 4 kilometers in width. The island’s altitude above sea level is approximately 3 meters. The climate is humid and predominantly influenced by tropical winds. Kharg Island has been recognized as the most suitable place for crude oils exports and loading site.

T-JETTY BERTHS

Located on the eastern side of Kharg Island, this quay is positioned 100 meters from the island’s eastern coast. It spans approximately 1840 meters in length and 40 meters in width. The eastern quay (T) can accommodate up to six (6) oil vessels simultaneously, each with a capacity of up to 275 thousand tons. The berths have a depth alongside ranging from 17.68 to 21.33 meters, specifically designed for handling large tankers. Currently, only berths 3, 5, 7, and 9 are fully operational.

The average loading rate at T-Jetty ranges from 3,500 to 9,000 MT/Hour, depending on the vessels’ requirements.

Typically, vessels at T-Jetty are moored on their starboard side. However, the final decision regarding the mooring side will be determined by the terminal.

Western Jetty (Azarpad Jetty)

The Azarpad Quay, located on the western side of the island and 1455 meters from the coast, provides berthing facilities. It serves as a berthing point for very large oil vessels with a capacity of up to 500 thousand tons for loading and transporting oil. The quay is equipped with navigation systems, automatic and semi-automatic fire extinguishing systems, as well as rotating and heating systems to prevent clotting. Currently, the quay can accommodate 3 oil vessels ranging from 300 thousand to 500 thousand tons simultaneously.

Situated on the western side of Kharg Island, Sea Island comprises 3 operational berths that can handle vessels of various sizes, including ULCCs.

At Berth No.11 vessels are normally berthed on their Portside and at berth No.15 starboard side, while at Berth No.12, they can be berthed either portside or starboard side.

Average rate of loading at Sea Island varies between 3,000-13,000 MT/Hour.

Early Departure Procedure (EDP)

Upon master’s request, vessel can sail Kharg Island on EDP basis, in which case agents obtain cargo loaded figures from terminal and inform the vessel and request for authorization from master to sign B/L and other relevant cargo documents on his behalf, within the maximum of 24 hours. In fact, to quicken vessel’s turnaround at Kharg Island, Early Departure Procedure (E.D.P) is recommended.

Sulfate fertilizers, liquid gas, Methanol, and other petroleum products are shipped from the and at Kharg. Sulphur, fertilizes and Methanol is supplied by the Kharg Petrochemical Company (KPC) at Kharg Island captive KPC berth.
