Regulations and restrictions

Due to the potential introduction of cholera microbes through balancing water on ships departing from Iraq, Kuwait, India, and certain African countries such as Djibouti, Eritrea, and Somalia, the Ministry of Health in Iran has implemented precautions this year. It is essential for these measures to be executed efficiently without undue delays in vessel operations. Ships in ports must obtain permission from the Marine Environment Protection Division before conducting ballast discharge. The ship's agency must submit de-ballasting requests to the Division. Relevant experts will inspect the ship and provide necessary permits after the request submission. Regulations and restrictionsIn compliance with the Third-fifth National Development Plan targets and membership in Appendix 6 of the MARPOL, there are stringent controls on airborne pollution in ports. If a ship is detected producing air pollution, the standard form to address the issue must be delivered to the ship through an inspector. The offender ship will be given a 60-minute timeline to correct the issue after the documentation has been completed. If the problem is not resolved, the ship will face fines and penalties.National and International Requirements: MARPOL Convention, OPRC Convention, The International…

Maritime Single Window

Maritime Single Window (MSW) mandatory as from 2024 In 2022, the IMO's Facilitation Committee adopted amendments to the Annex to the Facilitation (FAL) Convention which will make the single window for data exchange mandatory in ports around the world, marking a significant step in the acceleration of digitalization in shipping. The amendments adopted by resolution FAL.14(46) on 13 May 2022 enter into force on 1 January 2024. The amendments update the provisions of the FAL Convention on mandatory electronic data exchange in ports for ship clearance. The amendments to the annex of the FAL Convention will make it mandatory for public authorities to establish, maintain and use single window (SW) systems for the electronic exchange of information required on arrival, stay and departure of ships in ports. In addition, public authorities will have to combine or coordinate the electronic transmission of the data to ensure that information is submitted or provided only once and re-used to the maximum extent possible.
